A path from a brief to a useful track

Learn AI music through finished exercises

Choose a path based on what you want to finish. Each one combines a short tutorial, an action in the workspace and a result you can inspect. You can use the writing and listening exercises with different music generators.

01

Build your first clear prompt

For a new creator who has an idea but does not yet know which musical choices to make.

  1. Choose sound and arrangement with the selector

Write the use case, select the smallest useful set of musical choices and inspect the live output.

  2. Write the first prompt

Separate musical direction from sung words; leave room to learn from the first generation.

  3. Copy into the right fields

Keep Style, Lyrics, Exclude and manual settings distinct when moving into Suno.

Finish with: one saved blueprint, a compiled prompt and one listening question.

02

Improve a take you already have

For a creator who can generate music but wants to understand what to change next.

  1. Keep a listening journal

Mark a location, describe what happened and identify one intended change.

  2. Change one variable

Hold the other choices steady so the next take can answer a specific question.

  3. Choose a local edit when appropriate

Learn the documented Replace Section workflow for a problem inside an otherwise useful take.

Finish with: two comparable takes, a timestamped observation and a keeper decision.

03

Build an agent-assisted workflow

For developers and creators who want structured drafts, repeatable commands and documented provider handoffs.

  1. Connect a text model using your own key

Inspect what is sent, review a validated suggestion and preserve the previous version.

  2. Run the agent commands

Compile and lint locally, then make one optional provider request with explicit output and error handling.

  3. Check current product and API context

Use dated primary sources, and keep web model names separate from API identifiers.

Finish with: a validated JSON draft, a reviewed request and an attempt record without credentials.

Primary learning resources

Use these alongside the exercises when you need the underlying music idea or a provider’s current workflow.

  • Ableton Learning Music ↗

Browser-based lessons for building and combining musical patterns. Start here if beat, bass and arrangement choices still feel abstract; the introductory lessons need no prior equipment.

  • Suno Song Editor documentation ↗

The provider’s description of editing, replacing and extending sections. This help page is older than the latest model release, so compare its controls with the current interface.

  • ElevenLabs Music API quickstart ↗

Official SDK and CLI examples, composition plans and output handling for developers. The documentation states that the Music API requires a paid account.
