Suno v6 vs v6-wild vs v6-mini: which model should you use?

Choose v6 when you have a clear song brief, v6-wild when you want to explore a less predictable arrangement, and v6-mini for quick sketches. Suno introduced this model family on September 9, 2026, and announced that earlier models would be retired during the rollout. Source: Suno's v6 announcement.

Compare the three models

Change the model before comparing prompts

Open Suno Create and use the model picker at the top right of the form. Check it again when returning to a project: Suno says your selection remains in place until changed. Source: How do I change models?.

For a useful comparison, keep the lyrics, reference audio and style text fixed. Change just the model, then listen for a specific question: does the chorus arrive clearly, is the vocal easy to understand, or does the arrangement leave enough space?

Here is an original starting brief you can adapt. It is a writing example, not an audio-tested preset:

Warm indie pop, relaxed mid-tempo groove, muted electric guitar,
rounded bass, dry close lead vocal. Keep the first verse sparse;
bring in wider backing harmonies for the final chorus.

Save the actual model name beside each listening result. If a different model gives you a better chorus but a weaker verse, record both observations. One lucky generation does not establish a general ranking.

What happens to older Suno tutorials?

Instructions referring to v4.5-All or v5.5 describe an earlier product state. Reuse the musical decisions in those tutorials, then check the current model selector and available controls. A percentage setting from an older model is not a measured equivalent on a newer one.

How this relates to MusicPrompt's model presets

MusicPrompt now lists v6, v6-wild and v6-mini, based on the official documentation checked on September 20, 2026. New projects start with v6-mini, which the documentation lists for all plans. These profiles compile prompt text; their sliders and duration controls have not been checked against the live v6 interface, so configure those in Suno. Character budgets are editor guidance, not published v6 limits. The historical v5.5 and v4.5-All presets remain available for existing projects with their original July 22 mapping date.

You can still use MusicPrompt Studio to organize Style, Lyrics and Exclude text. Apply settings only when the corresponding control is present in Suno, and record the model you actually used in the listening result. Settings is a manual checklist, not a fourth text field to paste.

Common questions

Is v6-wild always the best option for unusual music?

Treat it as an exploration option. A precise unusual arrangement can still be a good v6 experiment. Compare the same brief before deciding which direction to keep.

Can I guarantee the same song by keeping the prompt?

Use the prompt as a record of your instructions, not a saved audio arrangement. Keep the audio version you like. When only one passage needs work, try Replace Section rather than starting the whole song again.
